This event is amazing. The venue is next level and the mountain is incredible. I think next year we do a better job of coordinating housing with the Mountain community manager and also transportation. I think renting a car was not necessary at all and public transportation is much better of an option/cheaper.
We did have some issues with the machine that I could not resolve but we were still able to operate effectively. Also the laptop was in german? Maybe it was in Austrian... So that was a challenge. I think next year we bring our own laptop with us just for ease of use with something we are familiar with.
It also would be amazing to move the laser engraver closer to the Yeti booth down on vendor row. We felt very disconnected from the event where we were at in Mountain Air. I think due to the long walk to get to us we did not have as much conversion from the booth to the engraver.
Other than some of those with the team that was on site everything went extremely smooth and it was the best of times. Thank you for letting me be a part of it!
The Verbier Freeride World Tour went off with a big bang this year. The weather did not supply the greatest of snow conditions, but it did provide the whole village with sunny springlike conditions that brought the vibe way up. Verbier is the Aspen Colorado of Switzerland. A place where you can cheers a Carlsberg beer with a certified ski bum whom hasn't showered in a month or a visiting Princess with a security team who look as if they could make you disappear in seconds.
Yeti brought the heat in more ways than one this year from cutting cups to serving up delicious food! Wilson Long and I were set up in the Mountain Air ski shop and we were cutting cups from 12-7, 10-6 and 10-4. We had a set of custom event specific graphics that we were serving up but also dabbled in creating some custom pieces for certain individuals that were either in the industry or we had a good interaction with. Some highlight cuts were cutting a cup with some custom sayings for a walk on to the Verbier FWT who ended up placing and also a fully custom cut for an artist where we re-drew her art to digitize it then did a half wrap of her design on the cup (came out awesome). We also were cutting names on cups and utilizing a set of approved fonts for folks to choose from.
While we were running the laser etcher up top we had a cabin booth set up down in the vendor village and that was spearheaded by Teresa and Julius from Treeline Marketing. They were an absolute pleasure to work with and were very organized and knowledgeable of the event. Wilson and I assisted with set up of the booth which went smooth and easy with many hands. There was a good crew on hand for the rest of the event including Michael, Shane, Smokey, Jessie and Samii. Also at the booth we had Nick Weston with his crew of British lads whipping up absolutely delicious pizza's with locally sourced and produced ingredients. They chose the goat to be butchered, spent a lot of time prepping ingredients, then stoked out the village with delicious food! We were lucky to have the lads also cook us up a big meal at the end of the weekend to celebrate Victors victory in the FWT. We ate horse steaks, goat loins, beef, lamb and chicken all of which were spearheaded by one of the cooks to showcase food that they specialized in cooking or from their home town. It was a truly special culinary experience.
We also had Malou Peterson and Ellin Bjork, two Swedish skiers who hung out at the booth and with the crew the whole weekend. Malou created a cool reel of the custom engraver and booth to post on her Instagram.
